How We Started
Clean Bees was founded in Bristol in 2014 by a husband and wife team who saw a gap in the market. Not for another cleaning company, but for a different kind of cleaning company, one that operated with genuine professionalism, clear communication, and a standard of service that commercial clients could actually rely on.
The gap they identified was straightforward: too many cleaning contracts were won on price and lost on delivery. Clients had little visibility of what was actually happening on their sites, teams were inconsistent, and accountability was vague. The founders believed there was a better way to run a cleaning business, and set about building it.
Over a decade on, Clean Bees has grown into one of Bristol’s established commercial cleaning companies, serving offices, schools, healthcare settings, residential blocks, and more across the city and the wider South West. The founding principles have not changed: professional service, transparent delivery, and a team that takes pride in the work.

Today Clean Bees employs over 60 cleaning operatives, all directly employed on proper contracts and paid above the minimum wage. We do not use agency staff or subcontractors, every person working on your site is part of our team, managed by us, and accountable to us.
The past two years have seen significant investment in the systems, processes, and technology that underpin how we deliver our service. We’ve developed structured training programmes, built operational processes that keep standards consistent across every site, and created XOTA, our own purpose-built client portal that gives commercial clients real-time visibility of every clean through photo evidence and timestamped completion logs.
These are not just internal improvements. They translate directly into a better, more accountable service for our clients, and a cleaning company that operates with the kind of transparency that was missing from the market when we started.

Why We Built XOTA
One of the most common frustrations we heard from commercial clients, particularly property managers and facilities teams, was simple: how do I know the cleaning has actually been done?
Traditional cleaning contracts offered little answer to that question beyond invoices and occasional spot checks. So we built one ourselves.
XOTA is our purpose-built client portal, developed over the past two years to give commercial clients real-time visibility of every clean. Every completed task is logged with photo evidence and a timestamp. Clients have their own secure login and can check activity at any time, whether they are on site, in the office, or managing properties remotely.
